Frequently asked questions

HOW LONG IS A SERVICE?
Our services typically run for about 90+ minutes and edeavor to consistently follow 1 Timothy 4:13 by giving "attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine." On any given Sunday we call the people to worship, sing, read scripture, preach, take communion, and provide ways for members to grow and serve one another.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR KIDS?
All ages are in service for music. Children are then dismissed to their classes. Nursery up to 5th grade.
WHAT ABOUT MY TEENAGER(S)?
With many smaller churches, we are currently rebuilding many of our ministries from the 2020-21 pandemic. Teens through adult study in the church sanctuary together.
WHAT DENOMINATION ARE YOU?
We are an independent, non-denominational church.
WHO IS THE PASTOR?
Learn about Doug Sommer
WHAT IS THE PREACHING LIKE?
We are committed to a book-by-book and verse-by-verse in-depth expositional style of preaching that focuses on rightly dividing the word and understanding the Author's intent above velocity. The sermons are theological, doxological, and practical.
HOW ARE ELDERS SELECTED?
We believe God has called men to the role of Eldership within the local church and must be demonstrably qualified and proven men of characer, humility, and godly eagerness (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-11)
DO YOU HAVE WOMEN PASTORS?
No. The Bible calls men to the role of Pastor/Elder and does not allow a woman "to teach or to have authority over a man." (1 Timothy 2:12) This is God-ordained role is firmly rooted in God's creative order. "For Adam was formed first, then Eve". (1 Timothy 2:13-14)
WHAT IS THE MUSIC STYLE?
We approach music within the church celebratorily, yet at the same time with joyful sobriety and solemnity. Thus, we concern ourselves with theological accuracy in lyrics and authorial intent in composition. While we acknowledge and appreciate creative license in style, we will not compromise theological clarity or dismiss the authorship's source. Therefore, you can expect rich theological songs from today and yesterday. Further, we adhere to the Regulative principle over the Normative principle of worship.
DO YOU SING SONGS FROM BETHEL, HILLSONG, ELEVATION OR OTHER QUESTIONABLE GROUPS?
We do not. See above.
WHAT IS THE GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE OF THIS CHURCH?
We are an Elder ruled congregation governed by a plurality of Elders.
DO YOU HAVE MEMBERSHIP?
Though a discussion point, currently membership consists of faithful attendance and service to the church.
