In 2007, Pastor Doug Sommer started a bible study in a home in Monroe with just a small handful of believers. He and his family drove 80 miles round-trip once a week to teach and serve with a desire to fulfill the Lord's calling to plant a bible teaching church in the Sky Valley community of Monroe.

On May 11th 2008, Calvary Chapel Monroe officially launched; initially meeting in the Monroe Senior Center on Sunday nights. In September 2009, the church moved across the street to the Boys and Girls Club and had their first Sunday morning services. Since then, Calvary has experienced wonderful growth - not just in the number of people attending the church, but in our love for Jesus and for the people in our community who so desperately need to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

As we continue to move forward in faith, our core mission remains to bring glory to God through the proclamation of His word, gathering together in gospel-centered community, serving our city and making disciples.
